Planning for transportation improvements is a continuous process that involves local governments, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), stakeholders with a key interest in potential improvements (such as business and property owners) and the general public. The purpose of this web site is to provide all parties with up-to-date information on the progress of four corridor studies currently being conducted in the Danville-Pittsylvania Urbanized Area. Representing the local governments in this process is the Danville-Pittsylvania Metropolitan Planning Organization, or the MPO.

Recognizing that funding constraints continue to reduce the likelihood of major improvements, three of the four corridor studies focus on enhancing the existing transportation system with low cost safety and operational improvements, management of access and expanding mode choices. The four studies are:

  • Mount Cross Road Improvement Study (Lowes Drive to Whitmell School Road)
  • Route 58 West Access Management Study and Plan (Westover Drive to Long Circle Road)
  • Route 863 to Route 58 West Connector Study (Mount Cross Road to Route 58 West)
  • Ringgold Depot to Dan Riverwalk Trail Connector Study

By clicking on the study of interest to you, you will be able to access and download, if desired, on the individual study information including: schedule and status tasks; meeting schedules and locations; and memorandum of existing conditions, so you will be able to review and provide comments at your convenience.
